Rabbi Yamin Benarroch grew up in Winnipeg, where his family settled after immigrating from Morocco in 1963. Surrounded by family traditions and a strong Jewish community, his love for his heritage began early.
Benarroch’s thirst for knowledge led him to Israel, where he studied at several yeshivot and earned rabbinic ordination. He also completed a Master’s in Education at Yeshiva University. In 1990, he moved to Montreal and became deeply involved in the Beth Zion Congregation, serving as Youth Director, leading Rosh Hashanah services, and teaching Jewish texts.
He later taught Talmud and Tanach at the Hebrew Academy and served as an elementary school principal. Today, as Principal of Judaic Studies at École Maimonide, he continues to inspire the next generation of Jewish learners. Benarroch has also chaired the Jewish National Fund’s Montreal Educational Committee and the Montreal Chidon Tanach, an event celebrating Jewish scholarship.
Through his lifelong commitment to Jewish education and leadership, Rabbi Yamin Benarroch has become a central figure in Montreal’s Jewish community, dedicated to preserving and promoting Jewish values for future generations.
